Jodhpur Blues

This painting was inspired by my 2004 trip to India. in Johdpur, the homes are all painted blue (once a privilege accorded only to Brahmins) and standing high above the city in hte fort (which, by the way, was never taken in battle) one sees a sea of blue below. I decided this man was playing the blues on his stringed instrument - hence the title: Jodhpur Blues. The mantra at the lower edge means life is but illusion and drama - a pretty good sentiment for the blues, eh?
